Chiropractic is one of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Canada. It provides a non-invasive, hands-on approach that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system; which involves any ailment related to muscles, tendons, nerves and joints.
PROPEL's chiropractors are experts in their field. Whether its nagging pain or a recent sport injury, our chiropractors have the tools to help you get past it and keep moving!
Chiropractors practice a manual approach that can address all regions of the body including the spine, pelvis, extremities, nervous system and joints. They utilize thorough diagnostic skills to determine appropriate treatment and wellness care of neuromusculoskeletal disorders and for performance enhancement.
Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are based on the specific needs of the individual patient.
Reasons for seeing a Chiropractor:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Strains and sprains
- Sports injuries
- Repetitive strain injuries (RSI)
- Work-related injuries
- Limited range of motion in the back, shoulder, neck or limbs
- General health and well-being
Chiropractor education & expertise:
Currently chiropractic education involves a comprehensive, integrative and outcomes-based program. Students undergo rigorous training similar to that of other health care professionals. In Canada, students are required to complete a minimum of three years of university education prior to being eligible for admission to an accredited program. The current four-year program focuses primarily on human anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, radiology, pathology and clinical courses aimed at the diagnosis and management of disorders arising from the neuromusculoskeletal system.
For many conditions, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care is frequently the primary method of treatment. Where other conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the neuromusculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Chiropractic care may also be used to provide symptomatic relief for patients with chronic conditions. According to patient surveys, by treating the neuromusculoskeletal elements of such disorders, chiropractic treatment has been shown to improve the general well-being of the patient.
Chiropractic is a regulated health profession, recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces and American states. Chiropractors are one of only five classes of health care professionals in Ontario that are able to use the title Doctor, with its accompanying rights and obligations. Almost 2 million patients in Ontario rely on chiropractic care every year to help them live healthy, active lives.
