This drop-in (no need to commit) program will expose the participants to the various techniques associated with Tai Chi, and help them build and master their own practice.

While it was originally developed for self defence, modern Tai Chi utilizes flowing and gentle movements as a form of graceful exercise that promotes calmness, balance and body awareness. The practice of Tai Chi utilizes specific postures and movements (aka: forms) to achieve this.
Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion” or “mindful movement”, for the serenity it imposes on the body. Plenty of scientific studies have demonstrated tremendous health benefits relating to the practice of Tai Chi.
Tai Chi positively affects chronic conditions such as hypertension, osteoarthritis and chronic pain, helps manage mood disorders (i.e. anxiety, depression), it improves muscle strength and helps with balance and coordination in those at risk of falls.
One of the greatest advantages is that the physical and mental benefits of Tai Chi can be enjoyed by participants of ALL ages!
No commitments are necessary.

Denis has studied and taught martial arts for 45 years. After years of practice, a severe knee injury during a Karate competition forced him to try a different approach, which led him to begin his study of Tai Chi.
Denis found the practice of Tai Chi beneficial in his physical recovery. Not only did daily practice improve his mobility and balance, it helped him to calm his mind by properly breathing, nurturing his energy flow or Chi while performing the movements.
In 2001, Denis started learning the “Yang” style Tia Chi, under Master Sifu Rick Sue. Since then, he has participated in Tai Chi competitions and has taught Tai Chi to people of all ages, from teenagers to senior citizens. What makes Denis a great instructor is his appreciation that each participant has different needs and requirements. His love for teaching stems from his confidence in the fact that Tai Chi can have a powerful effect on each individual’s health, sense of self, and resilience.
Robert Hoo has been a practitioner of martial arts for over 25 years, with a focus on Tai Chi. Studying under Master Sifu Rick Sue, Robert has competed in Yang Tai Chi patterns and has also received instruction in the Chen and Wu style forms. He has been instructing Tai Chi for the past 15 years and recently received first level certification by the Chinese Health Qigong Association.
Robert has seen the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong both physically and mentally. Everything from improving circulation to the easing of chronic muscle pain to finding one’s center. Tai Chi is an ancient martial art that can help anyone find a better balance in life.
