Bike Fit: A Sound Investment In Your Bike & Your Body

When Should You Get A Professional Bike Fitting?

Many people start biking because it is a great way to stay active, see the world, and socialize. Sometimes new cyclists experience pain, and they may falsely assume that cycling is not the right activity for them. Making sure that your equipment is custom fit to your body will significantly reduce the risk of pain and injury as you explore mature as a cyclist.

Perhaps you are an experienced cyclist, but want to adopt a more aggressive position to improve your performance? Maybe you just want to become more comfortable on your bike to make those long distance rides even more enjoyable. Sometimes you don’t realize that your rides could be even better until all the elements on your bike are working optimally with your body.

A professional bike fit is the cheapest and easiest way to get the most out of your bike and your body. I recommend that serious cyclists get their bike fitted every season, as the body adapts throughout the training season, and in the off season. Here is a list of common reasons to consider a professional bike fit:

  • You are a new cyclist and want to avoid injury
  • You just got a new bike and want to get the most out of it
  • You are experiencing pain when cycling
  • Your time on the bike is being limited by discomfort
  • You want to try a new, more aggressive riding position
  • You purchased a new component, such as aerobars or a new pedal system
  • You want to improve your performance
  • You want to improve how your bike handles
